Dragon's Last Word (with Matcha)

There are occasions in which, after a long day's worth of daytime work, you still need to keep your hustle through the evening. You need some liquid inspiration and relaxation—but also a tamed boost of energy.

The Last Word is a Prohibition-Era cocktail that's equal parts gin, green chartreuse, maraschino liqueur, and lime juice—finished with a maraschino cherry garnish.

In terms of flavor, it's a beautiful balance of acidity, sweetness, and herbaceousness.

Anything thats green and natural is good for you (for the most part).

What is It?

This alcoholic Matcha Last Word recipe (humbly named Dragon's Last Word) supercharges the classic cocktail with a boost from matcha's caffeine, adds a umami note—and rounds everything up with an egg white to deliver flavors with a silky mouthfeel.

Directions

1️⃣ Chill your coupe.

2️⃣ Add lime juice, green chartreuse, gin, egg white, maraschino liqueur, and matcha into a shaker.

3️⃣ Add ice and shake for 10 seconds.

4️⃣ Reverse Dry Shake: Strain liquid into your smaller tin, then throw out the ice from your large tin.

Then shake again for 15 seconds.

Optional: I like to use Booker and Dax's Cocktail Cube during the dry shake for extra foam.

5️⃣ Strain into a chilled coupe.
